MARYVILLE, Mo. — Judge Roger Prokes has appointed David Baird to serve as a special prosecutor when prosecuting attorney Robert Rice joins him on the bench next month.
Rice, who was appointed Associate Circuit Judge by the governor and will take up the post next month, is set to resign his position as prosecutor on July 3.
At that point, David Baird, Rice’s predecessor as prosecutor, will serve as a special prosecutor until the governor names Rice’s interim replacement.
In addition to serving as the longtime prosecutor in Nodaway County from 1981-2010, Baird also served as prosecuting attorney in Worth County from 2010-2016.
