Chamber to host primary candidate forum July 21

MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce plans to host an August Primary Candidate Forum to provide information for voters preparing for the election.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, just three weeks before the Aug. 4 primary election, voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates seeking a wide range of elected positions and information about the Medicaid expansion amendment on the ballot.

“We are taking precautionary steps to allow for social distancing and follow CDC recommendations to protect our community,” according to a chamber email. “We strongly encourage attendance to be via online options if possible.”

The event will be broadcasted live via the Zoom and chamber’s Facebook page.

Second Harvest mobile food drop set for Skidmore

SKIDMORE, Mo. — Second Harvest Community Food Bank in St. Joseph has announced a Pop Up Mobile Food Drop from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 9 at the city ball park in Skidmore.

Second Harvest along with local volunteers will distribute food through a one-day mobile food drop. The program is open to the general public.

There are no income guidelines to utilize this program.

“Second Harvest recognizes the need within this area and is taking action by bringing food to the food insecure,” the release noted.

The food bank serves individuals in communities throughout 19 counties in northwest Missouri.

The city ball park is located at 100 W. Adams St. in Skidmore.
