N-W Nodaway football falls to SW Livingston

North-West Nodaway fell to the state’s second-ranked team, Southwest Livingston, 76-26 on Friday night.

Michael Cook led the defensive effort for the Muskets with 11 tackles, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a defensive touchdown. Aydan Blackford had nine tackles and a forced fumble, while Will Cordell had seven tackles, a sack and two forced fumbles.

Karson Oberhauser ran for 71 yards and threw for 102. He threw for a touchdown while Michael Goff also threw for one. Goff ran for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Preston Bateman had 74 yards receiving with a touchdown while Aydan Blackford had 27 yards and the other touchdown.

Stewartsville/Osborn football beats Platte Valley

Platte Valley couldn’t make it two-straight wins on Friday and fell 40-16 to Stewartsville/Osborn.

Platte Valley threw for 187 yards in the game with a pair of touchdowns and interceptions.

West Nodaway’s Blay wins West Platte Invitational

West Nodaway senior Tyler Blay is rounding into peak form before cross-country districts and state. Last year’s state runner up won the West Platte Invitational on Saturday with a 17:07.1.

Duke Ingraham was fifth with a 17:56.1. Riley Blay was 20th and the meet’s top freshman with a 19:02.1.

Keevin Maupin was 57th and Braden Mires was 86th. 117 runners participated in the race.

West Nodaway finished fourth out of 13 teams.

Platte Valley’s Andrea Riley was 36th in the girls’ race.

Nodaway-Holt volleyball sweeps West Nodaway

Nodaway-Holt swept West Nodaway on Thursday night 25-13, 25-6 and 25-14.

Senior Shaina Culp led the Trojans with 11 aces, two blocks and nine kills. Payton Walker had four kills and two aces while Kayelyn Edmondson had three kills, two aces and two digs.

Krista Hart finished with 16 assists and four aces.

Nodaway-Holt (13-8, 9-4 275) won a five-set classic with South Holt on Tuesday in Graham. The game scores were 25-17, 20-25, 25-13, 17-25 and 16-14.

Culp led the was with 16 kills, five blocks, five aces and eight digs to lead the team in all four categories. Hart has 33 assists and seven digs.

Walker added 10 kills while Emma Bohannon had six kills and eight digs.

Kloe Jenkins had four kills and seven digs.

West Nodaway swept Union Star 3-0 on Tuesday.

Cullin, Skidmore finish season at state tennis

Maryville’s doubles team of Arianne Skidmore and Lauren Cullin saw their seasons end last week at the state tournament with losses to teams from Notre Dame (St. Louis and North County.

The junior pairing finishes the year 19-9.
