MARYVILLE, Mo. — Northwest Missouri State University Director of Athletics Andy Peterson has announced the hiring of Shelby Trussell as Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations for the Bearcat athletic department.
Trussell’s duties include oversight of all business-related activities, including budget planning and management, accounting and all fiscal transactions.
“This is a position that we’ve vetted numerous times and is one of great importance to our staff, coaches and student-athletes,” Peterson said. “We have 16 different sports or groups within our department that all have their own budget and rhythm of the year. It gets complex fast. Having a resource like Shelby, who is educated and versed in the finance world, will be profound. I’m excited to get her aboard and have another set of fresh eyes on our financial model to help us be as responsible and efficient as possible to create the experience we all want for our student-athletes.”
Trussell earned both her bachelor’s degree (accounting, 2019) and master’s degree (business administration, 2020) at Northwest. Trussell served as a graduate assistant in the Booth School of Business, while securing her master’s degree.
She was the treasurer for the Accounting Society at Northwest. She was named the 2019 Outstanding Senior Accounting Major of the Year, while earning President and Academic Honor Roll recognition. She was a Delta Mu Delta Honor Society scholarship recipient. She was active in the Junior Achievement Leadership program.
Trussell has served as a seasonal staff accountant at Veronica Luke Tax and Accounting LLC, in Maryville since 2018.
