MARYVILLE, Mo. — Young golfers from across northwest Missouri braved a soggy course at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park on Thursday for the first Northwest Missouri Junior Tour event of the year.

The Junior Tour gives youth from the ages 9-18 the opportunity to compete all summer long at different courses across the northwest portion of the state. Participants are divided into boys and girls with each divided into four age groups.

Among the participants, were four current members of the Maryville High School golf program in addition to several youth golfers from Nodaway County. With the wet conditions, golfers were limited to playing the Watson Nine, which they played twice to get 18 holes in.

Spoofhound senior Emily Long had the top finish among the Maryville High School athletes as she shot a 71 to finish second in the girls age 16-18 division. Only Stanberry graduate Allison Marticke and her 70 edged out Long in their division.

Chillicothe's Hallie Jones was third in the division with a 72 and Maryville's Lauren Padgitt was fourth out of the six golfers with an 89.
