With Coach watching

As former South Nodaway head football coach Dan Collins looked on, former Longhorn tailback Tristan Freemyer took a pitch to the outside during a 2015 joint practice with South Holt/Nodaway-Holt.

One of the winningest coaches in Missouri 8-man football history is receiving the highest honor the Missouri 8-Man Coaches Association can offer.

Former Stanberry and South Nodaway coach Dan Collins will be a part of the 2019 class of the Missouri 8-Man Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He will be inducted later this month at the 8-Man All-Star Game.

Collins coached at Stanberry for 20 years with a 146-66 record as the Bulldogs’ coach. After 1-9 records in each of his first two seasons, he built the program up to the point where Stanberry won the 2012 state championship.

After parting with Stanberry following the 2013 season, Collins took over the South Nodaway program in 2015. Collins was the Longhorn head coach for two seasons and finished with a 3-17 record.
