A great group of Northwest Missouri’s finest made their annual trek to the Capitol last week during the 2020 Great Northwest Day held each year in Jefferson City! The event has become a premier showcase of the 18 counties that make up the “Great Northwest” corner of Missouri and has proven to be a major attraction for the legislative body in Missouri. The Great Northwest Day event conveys a unique regional, cooperative approach to communicate economic development successes and policy ideas with legislative leadership in Jefferson City. The event is an effort to unify and to enhance our region’s image at the Capitol and has become a great tool to present priorities such as transportation, economic development, education, and all the issues that are most needed and beneficial to those of us who live and work in Northwest Missouri. Furthermore, it is critical that we use every possible opportunity to educate urban legislators in the Missouri House and Senate of our rural concerns and challenges, as well as our accomplishments and successes. Northwest Missouri is blessed with many great individuals and community leaders who work hard to build a stronger, more viable regional economy by promoting our communities, schools, businesses and our rural way of life. Their leadership efforts and dedication were inspiring as the “Great Northwest Day at the Capitol” was another huge success!
As always, it is an honor to represent you!
