Vernon Dale Collinsworth


Vernon ‘Dale’ Collinsworth, born January 19, 1944, son of Elda Glenn and Florence Frampton Collinsworth, Ravenwood, Missouri, passed away at home, Henderson, Nevada,  September 29, 2019.

He was a graduate of Northeast Nodaway RV High School, Ravenwood, Missouri and Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri. 

Dale married Judith Marie Holmes, daughter of Harold and Evonne Medsker Holmes, Graham, Missouri in 1965. Dale taught Accounting and Business Law at Postville High School, Postville, Iowa, before becoming CEO for the Chamber of Commerces in Grinnell, Iowa; Marshall, Minnesota; Columbus, Nebraska and Waterloo, Iowa.  Dale worked in Franchise Support for PostNet and in customer service for CarMax in Henderson, Nevada.

Dale had served as presidents to the Nebraska State Chamber of Commerce Executives, president of Columbus Area Rotary Club, president of the Columbus Area United Way and president of the congregation of Federated Church in Columbus, Nebraska. Among his awards, Dale received the Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary International and received an honorary award of Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. Dale earned the designation of Certified Chamber Executive through the American Chamber of Commerce Executives.    

Dale is survived by his wife, Judith; son Michael Dale; daughter-in-law Sheila and granddaughter Sadie of Las Vegas; sister, Donna Sue Nelson (David) of Ravenwood, Missouri,  and their family.  Also surviving are his in-laws Janice Ungles (Bill) Skidmore, Missouri; Jo Nelle Derr (M.C.) Maitland, Missouri; Jon Holmes (Nancy) Graham, Missouri; Jean Ann Lansche (Wayne) Palm Desert, California and Jerry Holmes (Robin) Graham, Missouri and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elda and Florence Colllinsworth.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 7 at the family home, 126 Brian Dr, Henderson, NV 89074 with Pastor Paul Carter, Chaplain with Affectionate Care Hospice officiating.
