Robert L. Hayden


Robert L. Hayden, 98, Maryville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019.

He was born December 23, 1920 in Nodaway County, Missouri.

He proudly served in the US Army during World War II, having been in the Battle of the Bulge and several other theaters during the war, working as a vehicle and airplane mechanic as his major area of expertise.

He had lived and worked on the same farm since 1938 until his stroke in 2017. He also was a highly skilled carpenter and mechanic.

He enjoyed coon hunting, coyote hunting, trapping, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will F. and Nettie L. (McCarty) Hayden; sisters, Evelyn  Eckart, Louise Imhauser, Nadine Hayden, Arlene Ward, Maxine Schroeder, Lois Seckington; and  brothers, Frank, William, James and Harold.

He is survived by one sister, Pauline Bailey, sisters-in-law, Wanda (Pierson) Hayden and Martha (Rascoe) Hayden, and a host of nephews and nieces.

No services will be held at Robert’s request. In lieu of flowers or cards, please donate to the Nodaway County Senior Center where he enjoyed eating the noon meals and playing bingo.
