James A. Vawter, 71, Mount Vernon, Washington, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019.  His sister, Diana S. Taylor, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

They were born in New Jersey and moved to Maryville in 1954.

Diana graduated from high school in 1962, where she enjoyed drama club. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1967. After graduating Diana began her social work career, including director of The Shelter for Abused Women in St. Joseph.

Jim graduated from high school in 1965, where he enjoyed being on the tennis team and the various band organizations that enhanced his passion for drumming. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1969. Jim settled in the Seattle area to work as a business consultant for EOC.  

Diana left behind a daughter, Natalie Taylor, St. Joseph, Missouri. 

Jim and Diana are also survived by three siblings, Fran McClain, St. Joseph, Missouri, Larry Vawter, Kansas City, Missouri, Ted Vawter, Bellingham, Washington; and uncle, Larry Treinen, St. Louis, Missouri.
