Dennis W. Todd

Dennis W. Todd

Dennis Wayne Todd, 82, of Maryville, Missouri went to meet his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 22, 2019. He passed peacefully at home with his family and his favorite dog.

Dennis was born on December 21, 1936 in Mitchell, Indiana to Owen and Adah (Brewer) Todd. He was a Baptist who went to several tent revivals and was saved and baptized by American Evangelist, Billy Graham.

As a teen, Dennis worked for two summers with Barnum and Bailey Circus taking care of the animals and working in the kitchen.Dennis graduated from Salem High School and received his associate degree at Evansville Business College.

As a young adult, Dennis applied for a position with the Pinkerton Detective Agency and was offered employment, but his Mother was concerned for his safety and so he opted to pursue another business opportunity.  However, he remained a big fan of law enforcement and was a member of the Texas Fraternal Order of Police until 1976 and the Kansas Fraternal Order of Police until 1980.

Dennis was a manager with S.S. Kresge/K-Mart for 27 years. He held a license in real estate and retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Store Keeper II. Dennis was a former member of the Maryville Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. He helped develop the Winter Wonderland Park, now known as Christmas Park.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathy Rawlings Todd. The two married in Evansville, Indiana on August 10, 1963.  Additional survivors include their children, Kimberly Todd, Maryville, Missouri, Allison (Danny) Todd-Martin, Dallas, Texas and Kevin (Leilani Greenfield) Todd, South Hill, Virginia; Gregory Todd, son; six grandchildren; one brother, Danny (Myra) Miller, Indianapolis, Indiana and four nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Kenneth and Don Todd) and Kimn Todd, son.

Dennis was related to James Todd Editor-in-Chief of the Maryville Democrat. James was one of the ringleaders responsible for helping get the State Education Selection Committee from Savannah to Maryville, so Maryville could be considered for the State Normal School. Due to his actions, the state officials decided to make Maryville instead of Savannah the site of the State Normal School (now Northwest Missouri State University). Following in his relative’s education-minded footsteps, Dennis would donate several computers in 1986 to support Jon Todd Rickman’s vision of turning Northwest into the nation’s first Electronic Campus.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held under the care of Price Funeral Home at Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the Northwest Foundation. If you would like a more personal tribute, rather than flowers consider contributing to Dennis’s memorial marker. Send memorial marker donations to Clinton Allen Monuments, 980 South Main, Maryville, MO  64468 in Dennis Todd’s name. Online condolences can be made to the family at
