Vivian (Cross) Akin was born March 22, 1928 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Clifford (Mick) Cross and Ila Marie (Burns) Cross. She graduated from Clarinda High School. August 3, 1946 Vivian was united in marriage to William (Bill) Lisle Akin in Troy, Kansas.  They were blessed with two daughters, Karen Lea and Patricia Ann.

After Vivian and Bill were married, they lived on the Akin family farm near Elmo, Missouri.  She was a housewife who loved taking care of her family. She loved to spoil her grandkids, who stayed all night with them as often as they could. She loved to cook for family dinners, and also loved  to bake. Vivian loved animals, and always had a dog and occasionally kittens. When Bill retired from farming in 1990, they moved to Clearmont. She was active with the Clearmont Methodist Church and had a ladies group she did various activities with. The most important thing to Vivian was her family and friends.

Preceding Vivian in death were her parents, Clifford and Ila Cross; husband Lisle Akin; brother Coral (Dean) Cross; sister and brother-in-law, Cloris (Corky) and Bill McEntaffer; sister, Joyce Ann Bentley; daughter, Patricia Mullins and daughter, Karen Collins.

Left to cherish her memory are her cousin, Wanda (Fuller) Cameron of Montrose, Colorado; brother-in-law, Duane Bentley of Clarinda, Iowa; granddaughter, Wendy Van Fosson of Maryville, Missouri; granddaughter, Stacey (Harold) Aksamit of Bolckow, Missouri; great granddaughters, Sydney Prather, Chloe Prather and Sophie Turner.

Vivian will forever be in the hearts of her loving family.
