Sergeant First Class (Retired) Gary Mackey, 69, passed away Monday June 24, 2019 at his home in Saint Cloud, Florida.  

Gary was born on January 9, 1950 in Maryville Missouri. He was a proud Spoofhound and graduated from Maryville High School in 1968. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army, serving from 1968 to 1988. He was an avid pool player, card player and bowler. He loved gardening and working with tools. He built mostly every piece of furniture he owned. He loved the Royals and watched them play every night. He was also a lifelong Chiefs fan and rooted them on every Sunday during football season. He was strong and had a loving and caring heart.  

Gary is survived by son Lonny Mackey and his wife Georgia, son Jay Mackey and his wife Barb, daughter Toni Mackey and her husband John Wilson, brother Chris Mackey, brother Tim Mackey and his wife Gina, seven grandchildren Matthew Bond, Christopher Mackey, Taylor McQuinn,  Brett Mackey, Faith Ross, Shawn Mackey, and Brayden Mackey and three  great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Russell Mackey and Helen Mackey and brother Mike Mackey.  

A celebration of life will be held at the Maryville Senior Center from Noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
