CONCEPTION JUNCTION, Mo. — A Jefferson C-123 senior will be recognized as one of the premier students in the Show-Me-State next month.
Ashley Riley has been named one of the 2019 Missouri Scholars 100, a program that honors 100 of the state’s best academic students in the Class of 2019.
“Ashley gets a lot of recognition for how well she has done in track and cross country,” said high school principal Charley Burch in an email. “What the general public may not know about Ashley is that she is a very bright student obviously in being selected as a top 100 Missouri scholar.
“She always has a smile on her face and works incredibly hard to earn all her accomplishments. I am so proud of her for winning this award ... it is a very big honor!”
Burch announced the accolade at Jefferson C-123’s Board of Education meeting last week.
The program is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Students are nominated by their principals and must meet a rigorous set of criteria.
Each nominee must maintain a 3.75 GPA, have scored a 29 on the ACT or 1,600 on the SAT, be ranked in the upper 10 percent of his or her class, and have taken upper level math, science, English and foreign language classes. Nominees must also be outstanding citizens, have excellent attendance and be involved in a school activity.
Riley and 99 others from schools all over Missouri will be honored at a luncheon in Columbia on April 28.
