MARYVILLE, Mo. — A Conception Junction man was seriously injured around 7:30 a.m. Saturday in a single-vehicle accident near his hometown.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kirby G. Sullivan, 56, was driving eastbound in a 1988 GMC 1500 pickup truck on Route VV two miles west of Conception Junction when he lost control of the wheel and traveled off the south side of the roadway.
The patrol report stated that the truck struck a metal culvert, became partially airborne, then hit a power pole. It came to rest on its wheels facing southeast beneath a utility wire.
Sullivan, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by helicopter to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
The truck, which was totaled, was towed from the scene.
Patrol Cpl. B.E. Maudlin was assisted in working the accident by Trooper J.D. Farmer and personnel from the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office.
