QUITMAN, Mo. — A northwest Missouri man’s vehicle was totaled after authorities said he fell asleep at the wheel and veered off the roadway.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jon B. Peters, 53, was a couple of miles south of Quitman headed north on Missouri Route 113 around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday when he fell asleep at the wheel. His 2005 Pontiac Montana minivan traveled off the right side of the highway, went airborne and struck a street sign, rolling over onto its top in a creek.
Peters was taken to Mosaic Medical Center - Maryville with minor injuries, but his vehicle was totaled.
He was wearing a seat belt.
