MARYVILLE, Mo. — The city of Maryville has announced the retirement of Maryville Public Safety Director Keith Wood.
After 43 years of service in public safety, Wood's retirement will be effective Monday, Aug. 3. He has served as director of MPS for the past 31 years.
According to a news release from the city, Wood, originally from Columbia, Missouri, earned his degree in Criminal Justice from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. He entered the law enforcement profession as a patrol officer on June 1, 1977 in Clinton, Missouri and eventually was promoted to assistant chief of police. Wood joined Maryville Public Safety as director in 1989.
Public Safety Lt. Ron Christian has been named interim public safety director effective Tuesday, Aug. 4. He has been a member of MPS since 1985.
A public retirement reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3 at the Mozingo Event Center.
