MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Maryville Rotary Club celebrated with two students of the month and their families last Wednesday.
Carleigh Losh and Jaren Golightly were named November students of the month. Each received a certificate and a check for $100. The students also will have an opportunity to apply for one of two larger scholarships from the club at the end of the year.
Losh, daughter of Ryan and Tracey Losh, has been active in school activities including Spanish, Spoofy Beans, F.A.C.T. Club and a cast member in the school production of “The Music Man.”
Within the community, Losh is very involved with the C3 Youth Group.
After graduation, Losh plans to work at Lettuce Dream.
“Always smile and be kind to others,” is her personal philosophy on life.
Golightly, son of Brian and Rachel Golightly, has been active in high school activities including cross country, band as saxophone section leader, jazz band, Spectrum Band and National Honor Society.
In the community, he volunteers delivering Meals on Wheels, unloading The Ministry Center food truck and as worship leader at The Bridge, playing bass guitar.
After graduation, Golightly plans to attend college and major in astronomy, and possibly physics. He’s currently considering the University of Arizona and the University of Kansas.
“Try your best in everything you do. Be rational and logical,” is his personal philosophy on life.
