MARYVILLE, Mo. — A Burlington Junction man charged with killing his father has pleaded guilty to murder, Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice announced Monday.
Lawrence Wayne Davison, 64, pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree in the killing of his 88-year-old father.
In January, deputies responded to a 911 call made by Davison in which he said he had struck his father two days prior and his dad was still on the living room floor. Davison said he had tried to feed his father over the course of the two days, but was worried that his condition was worsening. He told officers that he was afraid of going to jail, but thought that his father might die if he didn’t get help.
Deputies found the victim with head injuries and dried blood in his mouth, and paramedics on scene indicated that the victim’s shoulder may have been broken, his hip appeared injured and he may have had severe rib injuries.
The victim died from his injuries four days later at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
In a press release, Rice said no agreement on a sentence had been reached with Davison’s public defender other than the stipulation that it will not be more than 20 years or less than 15 with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
A sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 3 in Nodaway County court.
