A Missouri Department of Transportation crew began applying fresh asphalt to State Highway 46 Thursday, July 18, in one-block segments west from Main Street to Country Club Road, also known as Icon Road.
The thoroughfare, designated West First Street inside the Maryville City limits, was seriously degraded over the winter due to water infiltration and widely fluctuating temperatures.
Old asphalt was milled down prior to the new driving surface being applied. Work was scheduled to continue through at least Friday afternoon, July 26.
Side streets remained open during the repair effort.
