BARNARD, Mo. — A 16-year old Maryville girl lost her life in a drowning accident Thursday afternoon in the One Hundred and Two River.

According to a highway patrol report, Lindsey Allee, who was reportedly unable to swim, drowned after she entered an area of deep water. 

The Clarinda Iowa Dive Team recovered Allee's body at 4:20 p.m. and at 4:50 p.m., she was pronounced dead at the scene by Nodaway County Coroner Vince Shelby.

The incident was investigated by Trooper N. J. Greiner. He was assisted at the scene by Corporal K. A. Schmutzler, Missouri Department of Conservation Agent N. Carr, the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office, the Clarinda Iowa Dive Team, Corning Iowa Rescue and Red Oak Iowa Water Rescue.
