Maryville R-II offers summer school opportunity 

MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Maryville R-II School District will offer a summer school program from Tuesday, May 28 through Tuesday, June 25.

The Summer Journey will be held at Eugene Field Elementary School for students entering kindergarten through eighth grade in the fall. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with lunch provided. If students qualify for free/reduced lunches through the year, they also can receive it during summer school.

The school also will offer a before and after school program. While students both inside and outside of the district are welcome, busing will only be provided for students in the Maryville school district, but students also may be dropped off.

The summer school program is free, but fees do apply for the GO program.

Tickets on sale now for Art Rhythm & Brews

MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Fourth annual Art, Rhythm & Brews event is set for Friday, May 17 around the square in Downtown Maryville.

The event is hosted by the Maryville Public Arts Committee.

Live music will be performed on three stages around the square, while local food, brews and wine will be available. Outlaw Creek will headline the event starting at 9:30 p.m. on the Main Street Stage in front of the Nodaway County Courthouse. Alex Kirt will perform again this year starting at 8 p.m. on the Third Street Stage. On the Fourth Street Stage The Matt Cook Collective will perform.

The Homegrown Brew Tent returns this year to feature beers created by local brewers.

St. Gregory School to hold annual rummage sale

MARYVILLE, Mo. — St. Gregory Catholic School plans to hold its annual rummage sale from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 and 7 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 24 in the school gym.

The sale raises funds for the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, which helps purchase a variety of educational tools such as computers, software, textbooks, supplemental materials and playground equipment.

The school is accepting donations for the sale. Those items may be dropped off at the school from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19; from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 20; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 21; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22.

According to information from the school, the event provides an easy way for people to recycle gently used goods.

Sale organizer Amy Gastler said the school cannot accept items such as pianos, organs, mattresses, older tube televisions or car seats. Working flat screen televisions will be accepted.
