SKIDMORE, Mo. — A memorial worship service will take place beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 26, at Walkup Grove Cemetery in Atchison County.

The service will be conducted by the Sacred Hills Regional Ministry of the Episcopal Church with the Rev. Sidney Breese officiating.

It is recommended that worshippers bring lawn chairs.

A potluck meal will follow the service at St. Oswald's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Participants are asked to bring a dish and table service. In case of inclement weather, worship will take place inside the church.

Walkup Grove is about 160 years old. The cemetery is ecumenical, and members of a number of denominations are buried there. At one time, the area supported Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist and Episcopal churches. Only St. Oswald's remains.

To reach Walkup Grove Cemetery from Maryville, take Hwy 46 west 21 miles to Route N and turn south for one mile then turn east on 280th Street.
