Hector Anchondo, pictured, and his band will take the stage Saturday, Sept. 28, during a membership drive event billed as Blues & BBQ Night at the Maryville Elks Lodge.

 

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Maryville Elks Lodge 760, located at 115 N. Main St., will host a Blues & BBQ Night membership drive event from 6 p.m. until midnight Saturday, Sept. 28. All guests are welcome.

A social hour will take place at the lodge beginning at 6 p.m. to be followed by dinner at 7 o’clock.

The Hector Anchondo Band from Omaha, Nebraska, will deliver a live blues performance throughout the evening beginning at 8 o’clock.

Cost for the barbecue brisket dinner is $10. Admission to hear the band is $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Noted regional blues artists, the Anchondo band has shared the stage with such name acts as Styx, Johnny Winter, the Marshal Tucker Band, Magic Slim, Big & Rich and Devon Allman.

In addition, the band was a 2016 finalist in the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, Tennessee, and won the Nebraska State Blues Challenge in 2014.

The group’s 2017 album, Roll the Dice, climbed high on the blues charts with several cuts receiving radio play worldwide.

Raised on a Missouri farm, lead guitarist Hector Anchondo is known for masterful, aggressive playing that has deep roots in electric blues, country blues, Latino music and bluegrass.

Proceeds from the dinner and show will go to support the lodge, which donates about $30,000 a year to local charitable and civic initiatives in addition to providing nearly 4,000 hours of volunteer service annually.
