MPR offers Yoga in the Park tonight

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Maryville Parks and Recreation is offering Yoga in the Park at 7 p.m. tonight at Judah Park.

Local instructors will offer the free Yoga in the Park classes at parks around town. The classes are free and all are welcome to attend.

According to an MPR Facebook post, the classes are a great way to try yoga for the first time, or change it up and practice outside.

No registration is required. It is suggested that participants bring their own mat, water bottle and towel.

The next class will be held at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30 in Sunrise Park.

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Community Services Inc. will hold a Stuff the Bus event in partnership with Walmart in Maryville. From Monday, July 29 through Monday, Aug. 12, people may donate school supplies for students heading back to school in the fall.

Barrels will be placed in Walmart where patrons may deposit purchased items. Some of the suggested items include: pencils, notebooks, erasers, glue sticks, rulers, markers, high lighters, pens (red, blue black), folders, glue, crayons, scissors, colored pencils and simple calculators.

Cathy Rybolt, outreach director with Community Services Inc., said the tax-free weekend — this year set for Aug. 1, 2 and 3 — offers a chance to give more. She said last year the organization collected 1,462 items to help students.

Parents interested in receiving school supplies should contact the organization at 660-582-3113 to see if they qualify.
