Kids Block Party to kick off summer tonight
MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce Kids’ Block Party will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Fourth Street Corridor, located at Fourth and Buchanan streets.
Local businesses will offer free fun things for children. Snowie snow cones also will be available free.
At 7 p.m., Jim “Mr. Stinkyfeet” Cosgrove will take the main stage offering a high-energy, interactive show.

Art, Rhythm and Brews set for Friday night
MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Fourth annual Art, Rhythm and Brews sponsored by the Maryville Public Arts Committee will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday, May 17 in Downtown Maryville.
The adult street party celebrates the arts and the installation of new sculptures in the Gallery of Outdoor Art. The event offers attendees a chance to view the four new works of art up close. Live music will be provided by the Matt Cook Collective, Outlaw Creek and Alex Kirt.
This year’s beer distributors participating are Crane, River Bluff Brewing, Liberty Cap and KC Bier. Backyard Vine & Wine of Maryville will return. Food tastes will be provided by A&G Restaurant, Simply Siam Thai Food, Carson’s Sports Grille, Northwest Catering and William Coy’s Farm to Table Restaurant.
Before the event, tickets cost $30. At the gate, entry will cost $35. Attendees must be 21 or older and bring a photo ID with their ticket to the event.

Life Line to hold health screenings in Maryville
MARYVILLE, Mo. — Residents living in and around the Maryville area can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with screenings by Life Line Screening.
The screenings will be held on June 12 at the Maryville Country Club, 25867 Icon Road.
Screenings can check for plaque buildup in arteries, HDL and LDL cholesterol levels, diabetes risk, bone density as a risk for possible osteoporosis, kidney and thyroid function and more.
Screenings are accessible for those in wheelchairs or who have trouble walking, and free parking is available.

2019 registration opens for NW Flag Football
MARYVILLE, Mo. — Northwest Flag Football registration has opened for all children who will be in kindergarten through fourth grade in the fall.
Practices will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights at South Beal Park in Maryville. The tentative start date is Aug. 6. All games are set to be held at Donaldson-Westside Park in Maryville.
Registrations must be received no later than July 31. Open registration sessions will be held with times and dates to be announced on the group’s Facebook page
To register, attend an open session or fill out the registration form available on the NW Flag Football Facebook page and mail to the address on the form. Fee is $50 for registrations received prior to July 1. Those received after July 1 will cost $60.

Heart of America Tractor Cruise set for June 22
MARYVILLE, Mo. — The 14th annual Heart of America Tractor Cruise is scheduled to take off on Saturday, June 22, from the pavilion on the west side of the Northwest Missouri State University campus.
Cruisers will travel to the noon destination of Lake of Three Fires near Bedford, Iowa, then return to the pavilion on campus.
Sponsored by the Heart of America Tractor Club, funds will benefit children’s charities. The cost to drive is $35 per person.
A breakfast will be held Saturday, June 16 at the American Legion Hall in Conception. Those registered by Saturday, June 16, riders will receive a free T-shirt. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Golf tournament to benefit veterans home
MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Cameron Veterans Home Assistance League will host its Sixth Annual Golf Tournament Honoring Those Who Served on Thursday, Aug. 1 on the Sechrest 18 at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park.
