MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors have announced the August Customer Service Award Winner: Nodaway County Economic Development Executive Director Josh McKim.
Since 2014 McKim has served the community helping business owners experiencing changes or looking for a community in which to position their business.
However, much more goes into developing and maintaining Maryville’s economy: business retention, recruitment, location searching, skilled worker recruiting and procuring funding, according to a chamber news release.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, Josh has flipped the plan of work for NCED’s year from recruitment to emergency response, protecting the businesses of Nodaway County and ensuring (owners) have the assistance necessary to weather this storm,” said Lily White, chamber executive director.
Some examples include creating more than 100 videos covering business assistance tips and topics, providing highlights and help. He assisted the Nodaway County Commissioners in the implementation of the Nodaway County Grant Program, which has provided more than $600,000 to businesses in the county and more expected soon. He has helped businesses with applications for state and federal funding vital to ensure jobs would remain available and businesses would keep open their doors.
“Nodaway County is fortunate to have Josh McKim, and his entire organization, working quietly for us every day,” said White. “We are truly a better community because he is here.”
In an effort to share good news and positive stories from around the community, the Chamber Ambassadors continue moving forward with the monthly customer service awards that will be announced weekly for each month the organization did not meet due to the pandemic. When caught up, the awards will be announced monthly.
