MARYVILLE, Mo. — The St. Francis Hospital Foundation has released details regarding its 2019 Gala including event co-chairs Teri Harr and Larry Mannasmith.
The event will begin with a two-hour cocktail reception at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Mozingo Lake Recreation Park Conference Center. The theme for the event is “Set Sail with Us,” and will take attendees on a “125th Anniversary Cruise.”
During the reception, guests may visit six ports of call and sample cuisine from Greece, India, Japan, America, France and Mexico. Live entertainment with band members from across the country who have played with Journey, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and as back ups for Barry Manilow and Cher will perform throughout the reception. A plated meal then will be served at 7 p.m.
The foundation intends to honor its very first Spirit of St. Francis honoree Bob Severson.
“Bob’s commitment to a lifetime of service to Maryville and Nodaway County embody the five values of St. Francis: Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Stewardship and Community,” according to the hospital news release.
Proceeds from the event will help support the St. Francis Foundation’s Cancer Care Campaign that assists local cancer patients and their families. Plans include the construction of a healing garden at the old front entrance of the hospital, with parking and drop off spaces for all cancer care, medical/surgical and obstetrics patients.
Funds also will be used to begin assisting patients with the financial burden that cancer can bring to their lives, including transportation assistance, meal delivery through Schwann’s, prescription assistance and medical equipment assistance.
The event will end with a champagne toast and fireworks celebration overlooking the lake, as well as D.J. Tony Haist and an after-party at William Coy’s Farm to Table Restaurant.
Six ambassadors or “Cruise Directors” are supporting the fundraising efforts over the next six weeks prior to the Gala. They are: Joel and Audrey Osborn, Vanessa Parsons, Kara Puche, Brenda Neff, Chris and Lori Burns and Brittney Loch-Matousek.
Each of these ambassadors has been on a cancer journey personally or with a close friend or family member. To learn more about their stories and why they support the St. Francis Cancer Care Campaign, visit www.bidpal.net/stfgala.
The public is invited to attend this event. Cost for an individual ticket is $125, and includes complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks throughout the cocktail hour and dinner. To purchase tickets, sponsorships or to view live and silent auction items, visit www.bidpal.net/stfgala.
